Better coverage
Refine the mechanism and motion paths to reach more of the scalp, including the difficult areas around the ears.

ROBOTIC HEAD SHAVING
A familiar routine. A different approach. We’re developing a robotic shaving system to make regular head shaving easier for people who find it difficult to do by hand.
Working proof of concept. Seeking development partners.
Built around a real everyday need.
Early-stage robotics. Human-centred development.01 — THE PROTOTYPE
The idea has moved beyond a sketch.
Our prototype brings together a mounted articulated mechanism, servo control and a rotary shaving head. It can already shave parts of the scalp.
Coverage is incomplete, and results around the ears need improvement. Full-head shaving and independent use have not yet been established.
Explore an illustrative before-and-after view.
02 — EXPLORE THE IDEA
Compare short hair, a box cut with shaved temples and back, or a fully shaved head. Switch between the images or explore the model in 3D.
After: box cut — shaved temples and back, with hair on top.
Illustration, not a measured result.
This model is based on the current prototype, with approximate dimensions, a synthetic reference head, an illustrative salon chair and two proposed inspection cameras. The comparison does not demonstrate shaving performance.
3D ILLUSTRATIONDESIGNED AROUND PEOPLE
Reaching around your head. Guiding the shaver. Checking the parts you can’t see.
NeoShave began with the founder’s own routine of shaving one to three times a week. The question was simple: could a mounted mechanism make that routine easier?
We’re exploring this particularly for older adults and people with limited hand or arm movement, while learning from the people who may use it and those who support them.
03 — WHAT COMES NEXT
These are development priorities, not features of a finished product.
Refine the mechanism and motion paths to reach more of the scalp, including the difficult areas around the ears.
Explore head-position tracking and close-up cameras that could help identify missed patches after a pass. The illustration shows two proposed cameras beside the shaver.
Measure and evaluate contact between the shaving head and the scalp to inform the control system.
Explore saved personal profiles, session-position checks and suitable mounting arrangements.
Develop a quick-release shaving head for cleaning, along with reachable stop controls suited to the user’s abilities.
A CLOSER LOOK
Photographs of the current prototype and illustrations of what comes next.
04 — POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS
A mounted system for people who regularly shave their heads and find a handheld shaver difficult to use. Installation, assistance and maintenance needs remain part of the research.
A possible preliminary shaving step followed by a barber’s finishing work. We’re exploring whether setup, shaving and cleaning could fit usefully into a professional routine.
05 — DEVELOP IT WITH US
We’re looking for people and organisations who can help bring the next prototype together.
A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Not yet. NeoShave is a proof-of-concept project seeking partners and investment for further development. A commercial release date and price have not been set.
The current prototype can shave parts of the scalp. Full coverage and results around the ears still need improvement. The 3D comparison on this page is an illustration, not evidence of full-head shaving.
Independent use has not yet been established. Checking the head’s position, controlling contact force and evaluating the complete user workflow remain development priorities.
A planned quick-release mount would let the shaving head detach for cleaning and refit easily. We want maintenance to fit into ordinary home-support routines. This mechanism is still to be developed.
Different mounting options are being explored. Compatibility with a particular chair, wall or room layout has not yet been established.
Development partnerships, manufacturing expertise and investment in the next prototype. We also welcome input from people who may use the device, carers and barbers.
